It is commonly used to describe something that is a close imitation of the original, such as faux pearls, but is not readily recognized as an imitation without closer observation.Faux painting involves many different techniques that combine paint and glaze using various tools to create finishes that imitate marble, stone, wood, and other textures.

Murals and Trompe L'Oeil

Murals are simply a skillful attempt at creating illusion. They can totally expand our horizons and often times they transport us to another time or place through images. In their simplest form, murals are simply decorative artistic rendering on a common wall or living space that is generally grand in scale. Certain material are needed to complete a mural but painting easel is not one of them. Typically, murals are largely inspired by six main topics: religion, the four seasons (fall, winter, spring, and summer), historical events, ages of man, politics, and social issues. Trompe L'Oeil is a style of painting a 3-dimensional image on a 2-dimensional surface. Trompe L'Oeil means Fool the Eye, which is exactly what it's meant to do.

Marmorino Venetian, FIne finishes, Stucco (4 Year Warranty included
Venetian is an ancient building material which originates with lime and marble. Lime that can be brought up to ahigh polish, low polish, matte finish, and smooth to the touch. It can also have a granular texture. The term Venetian Plaster is also referred to the method of application. Natural lime plasters have been around since the time of the ancient Egyptians. From the Middle East to India, from Egypt to China, to Greece and on to the ancient Roman Empire, Natural lime plasters was used almost everywhere in the ancient world. Originally, they were strictly used for the protection of structures. The Venetians took it to another level. They added natural pigment to add a decorative use both interior and Exterior. Creating this beautiful finish takes time, patience and attention to detail. *Beware of applicators who use venetian bought in their local large chain stores and warrant as "Authentic."
Artificial plaster is like thick paint, and usually dries with little to or no depth which makes it difficult to copy the look of natural plasters and it feels like plastic to the touch.
These plasters can be made with a variety of material including lime, acrylics, polymers resins, petroleum products and sometimes cement and chemicals. They are made to "look" like the authentic plasters but do not offer the life and benefits of lime plasters

If this soil is saturated, then you run the risk of getting the foundation wet. A foundation exposed to water can lead to a multitude of problems.

interior & exterior problems

Peeling, Blistering and Flaking:

Caused by moisture from both internal and external sources such as poorly ventilated bathrooms, kitchens, leaking gutters and poorly caulked opening. Correct the damage by scraping loose paint off around problem areas then sand. Prime bare surface caulk around window frames to keep moisture from getting into the surface, then apply the top coat.

Mildew:

Fungi thrive on dampness and must be eliminated before painting. Scrub the area with a mixture of one part household bleach and three part water. Let the solution sit fore several minutes, then rinse with clean water. Don't add detergent or ammonia to the bleach. Wear protective eye wear and waterproof gloves.

Alligatoring, Crackling, and Wrinkling:

Strip old paint to the bare surface using a power sander, paint remover, wire brush, heat gun. Apply coat of primer, and finish with house paint.

Chalking:

Before painting, chalk must be removed by washing the surface with detergent and water, or by power washing. Light chalk on masonry must be sealed to the surface with conditioner.

Fungal / Algal Contamination:

Black, grey or brown areas of fungal or algal growth on the surface of paint or sealant.

Possible Causes:
  • Fungus forms most often on areas that tend to be damp, and receive little or no direct sunlight (north facing walls and the underside of eaves are particularly vulnerable). Algae forms in the presence of light and moist environments.

  • Use of a lower quality paint, which may have an insufficient amount of fungicide or algicide.
  • Failure to prime bare wood before painting.
  •  Painting over a substrate or coating on which fungus or algae has not been removed.

Solution:
  • Test to distinguish fungus or algae from dirt by applying a few drops of household bleach to the discoloured area; if it disappears, it is probably fungus or algae. Treat the contamination with either a fungicidal wash or by applying a mixture of water and bleach, 3:1, and leave on for 20 minutes, applying more as it dries. Wear goggles and rubber gloves. Then scrub and rinse the area. Apply an exterior water-based primer, then a premium exterior water-based paint in matt, silk, satin or gloss finish, depending on the desired appearance.
